We started the trip from Delhi to Jaipur with our private driver Ghoki. He explained a lot along the way, while driving us safely from place to place we wanted to visit.

He was even making exceptions and was taking us to places they were on our way, but not in our agenda and very much worth visiting them.

Ghoki took us to very local restaurants where the food was really good, but not so easy to explain the wish of ordering a vegan meal. Luckily Ghoki was there to save the day and order a very special meal for me/us.

The whole travel package was not very cheap, but in any means worth the money, especialy if you are visiting India for the first time.

The trains booked were all AC class, and the hotels with private AC room and bathroom, and well located.

Sounil, or “Sannie” as he calls himself is a good driver where I felt safe in the crazy traffic here. He knew every place we went to visit and can tell you a lot about the Indian culture if you ask him for it. Also he gives you advice on what to look out for in different locations which is helpful. It depends on the type of luxury you want but in general the hotels were nice and clean. Because there is so much to see you will go on a two week rollercoaster where you can experience a great deal of India in a short time. My advice would be to do some more preparation up front then I did so you know what to expect of the places you would like to visit, the culture, getting around and doing what you would love to do. I really got to experience India and it’s magnificent culture, but the animal activities like the camel ride and elephant visit were not my favourite. The tiger safari in Ranthambole was really nice though. It’s good to know the prices of the basic things so you won’t fall for people who see you as a walking wallet.

Sannie was really looking out for me, he actually put me on the train to Varanasi so he was sure I was in the right seat. There was another driver who picked me up with a sign and brought me to the hotel. Here Raj would ask how I was doing and arranged the rest of the transportation back to Delhi. When you are with him you see that he is very invested in all his guests. His phone is in his hand 24/7 to solve the challenges that occur during ones travel. He is fast, gets things done and if there is a problem he will do everything to solve it. When I was with him I saw him rearranging flights that had been cancelled, train rides and helping his guest with scams that they fell for. Also he is a reasonable guy who is open for a conversation. If you have any doubts or if doesn’t feel right. Just do some research, speak out what’s on your mind, and do what makes you happy and feel good!!! He is looking for a win-win situation where you are happy and he is happy. So together you can see how to make it work.

Now I am setting off to the north with a little more peace and quiet to cool down from all the amazing sights Delhi, Rajastan and Varanasi had to offer.
